So earlier today I was replaying Episode 1 of the latest Sam & Max video game series. "The Devil's Playhouse" is a great re-tooling of the classic point-and-click adventure games. Over the past 2 years, thanks to bumping into the Adventure game revival by TellTale Games, I have become a huge fan of the Freelance Police. But really thinking about it, I find it crazy how I own the DVD box set of the cartoon series, played the video games, and read the "Surfin' The Highway" trade paperback despite not really being a fan of the two at all in my childhood. And that was during it's prime in the 90s, when the cartoon was on TV, and the LucasArts game was popular. So why now? Why has a duo with a surprisingly deep history having a resurgence of popularity in the past 3 years that may have reached an all time high?--Read More--

-Ex Machina- (eks•mock•een•uh): Referencing the Greek stage mechanism of the Gods appearing during the denouement to resolve the conflict quickly and somewhat unexpectedly; Deus Ex Machina, translated, means "God from the machinery." Generally viewed as a weak or hackneyed method of wrapping up a story. Written by Brian K. Vaughan, illustrated by Tony Harris, and published through WildStorm Comics, Ex Machina is the tale of New York City resident/Mayor/former superhero Mitchell Hundred. It takes place in many settings, including varying years. Readers have seen Hundred as a young boy asking his mother about leagues of women voters, as an adult dealing with the everyday happenings of a city that never sleeps, and also witnessed glimpses into his days as the high-flying hero, the Great Machine. This book is definitely not hackneyed or weak. --Read More--
