Disney closes LucasArts

Disney have announced their decision to close down the LucasArts games division, only months after buying it along with Lucasfilm for a combined $4.05 billion in October 2012. An official spokesman for Lucasfilm has refused to confirm how many employees are directly affected by the decision (Kotaku report that 150 will lose their jobs) which has been made as part of an ongoing internal cost cutting review.

Japanese Vita sales outstrip 3DS as Nintendo loses patent lawsuit

Minecraft sells over 450,000 copies on Christmas Eve!

According to Markus "Notch" Persson's Twitter account, Minecraft sold a staggering 453,000 copies on Christmas Eve 2012. In total that brings sales of the little game that could up to 8.7 million copies on PC as well as 4 million on XBLA and 5 million on iOS. I think you'll agree that those are mind boggling sales figures for a game that doesn't look very good, and at first glance has a very limited gameplay mechanic.
