The Top 5: Underrated Net Video Creators
Posted by Felipe Diaz-Vera - Friday, July 16, 2010 4:53pm

So yeah.....Top 5 Underrated people who create original content for the internet! Let's get this cracking!

No. 5: Wonchop

If you are an avid Newgrounds user, you more than likely already know the name of Wonchop. However, his Youtube channel is what interests me. Buried underneath some good-to-OK Youtube Poops are some very hilarious animations and actual videos done for a quick laugh. Even if it only takes about 10 seconds of your time, it does give you a hearty chuckle. Wonchop has recently started a series known as "Every Everything Ever", where he comments on every comment, response, or reaction to a particular thing.

No. 4: The Cinema Snob

Now this one is a bit up in the air. On one hand, there are a lot of guys who do not get enough love as part of the ThatGuyWithTheGlasses team, such as Benzaie or LeeisStillGaming, but on the other hand, all those guys are collectively known and that should be enough. But I am making a special exception for Mr. Brad Jones, better known as The Cinema Snob. What makes him stand out is both his rather deep and unique voice, but also the content he reviews. He tends to go with lesser know and obscure movies, such as various foreign Star Wars knock-offs and terrible porn adaptations of things such as Beavis and Butt-Head. Here is an example of his work, as he reviews the E.T. porno.....yes.....AN E.T. PORNO!

No. 3: Ashley and Anthony Burch

Ash and Anthony are the odd minds behind the Gametrailers and Destructoid series known as "Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin?", which takes rather odd looks at games ranging from the modern to the classic. The oddball humor is not for everyone, but I personally find it hilarious. Whether it is references to Batman Forever or how similar 2008 in gaming was to 2007, all of it is funny stuff. Plus it does not hurt to have willing friends and parents to get in on the act. Here is one of my favorite episodes, where Ash kills herself re-enacting Persona 3, and Anthony is left to explain what the game is about.

No. 2: The Adventures of Duane & BrandO

Meet Duane Zuwala and Brandon Thomas Lackey. Collectively known as "The Adventures of Duane & BrandO" the duo record rap tributes to various video games from Megaman II to Sonic the Hedgehog. While musical tributes are nothing new, the rap style is very original in that it fuses hip-hop with some great original rock composition to accompany the classic 8 & 16 bit sounds. They are also pretty good at original music as well. Go out of your way to check out songs like "The Carpet is Lava" and "Air". Here is one of my personal favorite songs they have done. A recap of the original Double Dragon game done as only D&B can.

No. 1: Storm Dain

Although everyone I have mentioned are under-rated. Everyone I mentioned either has a crazy loyal following, or are making money off of their works. Storm Dain on the other hand, doesn't really have either. His most popular videos are only in the 25,000 view range (Compared to 150,000 per Duane & BrandO song) and although he posts videos for Destructoid, he does not get paid for his work or sell any merchandise. Storm is a bit of an odd one. His gaming reviews are very opinionated and actually funny. His jokes are slightly more intelligent than that of the average game reviewer, and he does not hesitate to do stupid things like making a cheesy music video or < href=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pG7mPdGE46g#t=4m04s>breaking a Wii-Mote across his leg for our entertainment.

It's odd though to understand why he keeps doing these videos. He tends to have this weird relationship with his fans in that while he likes doing these videos, he seems to hate having any sort of fan base. While that may be what is keeping him from higher recognition, I feel it is part of his appeal. He has fun doing these videos and does not care if you do not know his music taste or if he omitted something from his review. Storm is one of my favorite YouTube personalities out there and can make almost anything entertaining. Even.....making a pizza!
