Seven Nation Army - White Stripes.

I heard the song during the 2012 Euro's (When a goal is scored the tune is played) and I heard good things about White Stripes in general, might give them a chance sometime :)

I forget that you're not american, because if there's ever one song that got overplayed to all hell, it was that song. I was sort of hoping that PSU would get the death penalty so there would be absolutely no one chanting that over a football game.

The White Stripes are one of my favorite bands ever. The dynamic between the two people, the great lyrics and guitar playing of Jack, and the fact that they are TREMENDOUS live.

Didn't you write a story saying how each of Jack's bands are really inconsistent live, where you can get a really amazing show or one that ultimately falls apart and isn't really good?

From that very blog.

The White Stripes live show is an interesting experience. Because of the simplicity of the music and the fact there are only two people on stage, it leads to either personal and intense shows or sloppy all-over-the-place music. You never really know which White Stripes you are going to get...even on the same show. However, this does not stop Jack from pulling out all the theatrics and busting out many a Guitar Solo.

I never said the shows were particularly bad. Just that because of the fact that there are only two people on stage, when one makes a mistake, it just happens to be VERY noticable. However, I don't think either ever really cared. Jack White has not sung "Dead Leaves & The Dirty Ground" in it's proper key in years, but that's kind of it's appeal. Its RAW. It's just 2 people and a handful of instruments. Sometimes, it ain't pretty. But I love that about the group. One of my favorite TV performance moments is them in the middle of "Cannon" at Studio Canal & randomly as they go into "John the Revelator", Jack goes into full "I don't give a f***" mode. He sings into 3 mics at once, and there is mic feedback all over the place. It's ugly. But awesome.

EDIT: Oh, BTW. What I'm listening to now.

Paramore were so much better with the Farro brothers. Take away those awesome drums and guitar lines, and suddenly the group doesn't matter anymore. That outtro at about 4 minutes in is also probably the best thing that Paramore has ever done live.

Ah, I can understand that. I love live performances usually for the sheer fact that something will be different from the studio version, and I love multiple versions of songs.

Now for a band that can and will never screw up because they're too awesome.

Major is a pretty good album, but it lacks the frenetic energy their self-titled had.

I wish mainstream rock was still a real thing. Exit Ten is like the perfect band of that genre, but came out 5-10 years too late. I feel like they would be huge if they dropped around the time Chevelle and Three Days Grace could make millions of dollars.

EDIT: Apparently they were around 5 years ago. And doing Alternative Metal music during that time. Huh...

I'm kinda a nerd for original artist soundtracks - especially ones for 'bad' movies. The 1998 Godzilla movie has one of the most underrated soundtracks in existence:

Features probably my fave Foo Fighters song too. Could easily leave it on shuffle all day.

I've been listening to Childish Gambino a lot, but I got to say I'm disappointed in his new mix tape "Royalty". I love all of his other stuff, but it just doesn't sound anything like his other stuff, so I can't get in to it.

I'm also listening to Punchline's new EP "So Nice To Meet You" which is a pretty terrific quartet of songs about the lead singer's televised meeting of the love of his life on the show "Mobbed" and features a fun cover of Cheap Trick's "I want you to want me" which was featured in the episode! Definitely check it out, and if you like them I recommend there albums "Delightfully Pleased" and "Just Say Yes". I'm not sure how exactly to define the band as a genre, they're like rock, but they're mostly fun and goofy while still being serious. It's weird, but like I said, check them out!

Also, I've been listening to the soundtrack of the Tony winning musical "In The Heights" which is honestly fantastic top to bottom. I doubt I can convince anyone here to give it a listen, since I'm Fanoff's resident theatre nerd and I doubt most of you have any interest in musical theatre, BUT "In The Heights" is a show that features almost entirely a minority cast and many songs on the album feature rapping and hip hop style music. It's about the farthest thing from musical theatre while still having everything that makes that genre great! Seriously, It's pretty much all I've been listening to. Also, if you've never listened to the album for the show "The Book Of Mormon" I recommend that as well! It was written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park and won 9 Tony awards. If you want to give it a listen I suggest the track ""! So Funny!

Punchline & Gambino are both good stuff.

It's funny. No matter how much my music taste change or how much this particular band changes for better or worse. I can listen to The Used and be happy. I tried to distance myself from them for awhile, but there is no denying that they are my favorite band. They were the first group I ever heard that wasn't like every other rock group on the radio and introduced me to the punk, alternative, and emo scene. It doesn't hurt that their new album is actually very good.

The Darkness - Hot Cakes

I was reading a piece in the paper today about how the band fell apart and then came back together. I was an early advocate of The Darkness so when It dropped today i thought "why the hell not".

So far, so good.

Also, i would say that, at least for me, Everlong and My Hero are the best Foo Fighters songs out there.

Oh trust me you're not alone. Living in Jersey and also being a stage actor, I have a huge interest in theatre and Broadway. I recently just saw Newsies, based on the flop 90's movie starring Christian Bale, for a second time and it was phenomenal. The soundtrack is very upbeat and uplifting. Also I've been listening to the American Idiot soundtrack since I saw it.

On the flip side I've been listening to a lot of Childish Gambino as of late as well as well as Odd Future. A lot of people see them as overrated but I like the flow they have to their music. Also have to plug a friend of mine, Jakk Doe. He's been rapping for a good amount of time and I think he's really good:

Yellowcard's entire new album "Southern Air" is fantastic. "Awakening", "Southern Air", "Telescope", and "Ten" really stand out. "Ten" is about the miscarrage he had 10 years ago and is a beautiful song.

Also been listening to lots of Ours. You guys may or may not know them, but my brother is their current drummer (not in the video) and they are definitely worth checking out.
