E3 is officially here, time for your thoughts.

Haven't watched much yet, waiting for individual game downloads but:

LOL at Playstation All Stars. I know Felipe is defending the game and I admit that if there was going to be a SSB clone that PS had the best chance at making something worthwhile but that demo made it look incredibly bad. Perhaps it's still too early in development but too much of that looked like it would be the "Wii Music" to SSB "Rock Band".

The cast is a good bunch, though, and the people participating in the development of the game has a lot of cred but I worry at the fact that it's a lot of stand fighting-game fighters trying to make a SSB clone, and so far doesn't carry anything from either style that one would call good.

The Sea-faring portion of the AC3 stage demo was fucking amazing, though. And Far Cry 3's 4-player Co-op looked promising but whoever editted together that video did a terrible job.

Now I need information on The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinity, tomorrow can't come early enough!

I was really a fan of most of Microsoft's conference but I seem to be in the minority on that one.

SmartGlass is a cool gimmick that doesnt require any new hardware. Usher dancing for Dance Central 3 was fantastic and makes sense. Halo 4, Splinter Cell, and COD look very awesome as well.

I need to catch a replay of the Microsoft press conference, but I'm not hearing any good things about Halo 4 (or as someone put it: Metroid Prime: Combat Evolved).

Beyond looked really interesting, though. If I catch more on that game it may become a game I buy on intrigue alone just like Kingdom or Amalur (which I don't regret buying one bit).

It definitely did remind me of Metroid Prime.

Metroid Prime was awesome though.

Cannot argue there, but I do know if I'm willing to sacrafice the fun and customization of the MP (aka, the entire reason I play the Halo series) for an improved story/single player mode.

Other than Splinter Cell, I hated Microsoft. Even if you accept that they're not going to focus on games, but rather broader entertainment, it was still underwhelming. So you're going to put info about Game of Thrones on my tablet or smartphone, while I watch it on my TV? As opposed to me just looking it up on iMDB on my smartphone now? I get what they're going for but for a big announcement at E3 of all places, they need to do better than that.

Also Kinect is still some lame bullshit.

I remember when Splinter Cell games involved stealth.

Apparently you can still play it reasonably stealthy, but yeah i miss out and out stealth games.

Oh and the whole SmartGlass thing is really 50/50 for me. The TV portion of the presentation made me think it was a complete waste of time and effort but the games portion had me thinking it was a cool idea in some ways. I wrote an article about it for EG+ so check that out if you like.

Not all stealth is in the dark. Seems similar to conviction.

They dont need to focus on games because they showed their exclusives. They got Halo 4, Dance Central 3, and Gears 4 out there. Then they showcased everything else they can do while still bringing in every great 3rd party game not made by Naughty Dog. 360 is a console of all trades and is doing the casual gamer better than Nintendo and the hardcore gamer better than Sony. None of their peripherals are forced on you as they're all options or something you already own (Smart Glass).

and Kinect is awesome.

Yeah I said it, aint nobody scurred.

As usual, I was disappointed. I am watching the stuff on spike, and they had a girl play skribblenauts for wiiu for a little bit.. it seemed kinda cool. The miiverse idea sounds good. I wanted to see some awesome games shown.

Nintendo: LOL WUT!?
Xbox: Forza, Halo, and Gears look good
Sony: God of War and Beyond look good, The Last of Us looks amazing.

EA: I forgot everything they showed
Ubisoft: Winner! Far Cry 3, AC3, Splinter Cell look great. Watch_Dogs is the only game shown that may have topped The Last of Us.

Star Wars Uncharted looked decent too.

Nintendo's answer to Microsoft and Sony was: You're not holding enough awkward looking shit! Here are some games you've played before, but we added things that make it harder to play! Also kids games.
Nintendo just loves their gimmicks.

I whole heartedly agree, Nintendo's English language speakers felt so wooden it was untrue (no idea if the Japanese contingent were the same or not). Reggie could possibly be the worst front man for any conference this year, except for possibly whoever does the Ubisoft one.

Sony on the other hand felt super natural all the way through and despite the lack of new console goodness (I was wrong) they produced an exceptional conference, easily the best this year.

Trey and Matt talking about controlling a game through a fridge inside your oven was, however, the best single segment of all 3 this year.

In summation, Nintendo suck.

Aisha Tyler was good at Ubisoft. But that "YouTube star" guy... dear god why.

So far the Nolan North count of games at E3 this year is 9, guy must be taking a break.

You must be excited for Lego City Undercover then? If it was on any other system i'd buy it.

Tempted to get a Wii U?

The Nintendo press conference wasn't bad. Although I cannot believe they actually ended the show with a low-res fireworks display with looping animation. What were they thinking?

Descriptions state that she's not Ashley from RE4, in that she's more intelligent with how she acts. She'll stay in hidding and intelligently do things to distract enemies when you need em (as shown when Joel runs out of bullets or is fighting the shotgun user on the floor). That said, she can take damage and you may have to make sure to be careful yourself so she doesn't get flanked. I really can't wait, it sounds like the most realistic idea of a squire travelling with a trained knight in the battlefield as you can get, and in this one Ellie also sounds like a cool character who's not just yelling my name every 3 seconds.

I wouldn't go that far but they're definitely doing a better job at it than PS Move. Beyond dancing games though, which just wont have a great enough limelight to interest the market to get new games that are nothing more than new songs. In comparison, the Wii gives you the games that kids will play and adults will play by themselves and with friends, rather than just with friends. And the games I've seen in the recap, look like stuff that families with Wii's will eat up. There's enough variety for them to do so, unlike the Kinect.

That said, I'm like the Kinect, only for the voice-recognition abilities making it really easy to play ME3 and do things on the menu. If I couldn't get it for $80 new, though, I can't find myself feeling that its worth it (and I had deals galore for that, it's still $150 for everyone else.....no thanks). It really will need some future implementations in other games, though, besides "back-up headset".

Wii U will be awesome, though I'll wait for more info to be released. There are more games to Nintendo than just Mario/Zelda, Nintendo just like focusing on those two at E3's when they can.

That was atrocious.

When is the last time you heard of any family sit down and play video games together? Their non-divorced parents, happy-sane grandmother, 13 year old boy, and 17 year old girl who CLEARLY wants to be there.
They dont exist.
