RAW thoughts (6/25/12)

Postby Matt G » Mon Jun 25, 2012 11:05 pm

Very good show. I'll elaborate later, but I thought Vickie Guerrero stole the show. Hard to think they wasted a year on "John Laurinaitis: Dastardly Heel" and the worst acting on the planet when they had a gem in Vickie doing essentially nothing. AJ was also tremendous.

Only poor parts, I thought, were the Cena comedy and the confusing pole match. But I was actually very surprised with how good this show was.

John Cena will be the first man to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase and lose the match.

Everything involving AJ was awesome. And it was nice to see SID and Jericho, but I wish the opener was the main event. Plus, Its obvious Cena is gonna do what RVD did and get his match with Punk at Summerslam.

If they want to make an actual star, it's the right thing to do.

Not a terrible show. I don't understand why Sheamus is happy about a 3 way match. Doesn't he know that it decreases his chances? Whatevs. It's still a good night, as I got a couple retweets by @crankyvince.

They need to do something to progress the 4 (wo)man title story already. This is the 5th show this month where it felt like they did the exact same thing. What they're doing isn't bad or anything, it's just getting boring seeing it over and over. You also shouldn't be having the champion face the #1 contenders week after week after week. That's what you do with midcard/tag belts, with world belts you don't have a match with that person until PPV.

I thought the show was pretty good overall. LOVED Vickie all night.

A lot of fun to be had with this show. Vickie and AJ were awesome, and the Sid cameo was cool. I have to say, I am still really interested in where the AJ thing goes. Her doing the YES thing after winning her match was not only adorable, but a nice subtle nod to the fact she still wants Bryan. My faith in WWE for going somewhere good with this is at zero, but they might surprised me.

I can't say I thought it was a very good show though. There is almost negative-hype associated with that RAW Money in the Bank match up. The concept, and subsequently the line up for the match, is just so terrible. I have no interest in any conceivable outcome from that match, nor do I think it will meet the VERY high standard of WWE ladder matches in 2012. The Cena and Jericho (sporting the haggard 40 year old lesbian look tonight) exchange was poor, and the closing angle was as vanilla as it gets. The Saturday morning cartoon they put on that was supposed to determine the number one contender for the World title was just hokey garbage, and I'll be really disappointed if Ziggler is just another guy who suddenly starts wrestling heels as opposed to having an actual face turn.

I think this was just a show where the wacky WWE antics were actually genuinely amusing for once instead of grating, but the other longstanding flaws with the show remain.

Decent show. Props to Vickie for flaunting bathing suit. Miss her as GM. AJ was amazing. Backstage segment with Kane and soap opera relationship lines was gold. Airing Fozzie footage part of Jericho's contract? Heath Slater jobbing to, of all people, Sycho Sid.

This Raw is a winner

In comparison to most other Raws.
Its good when characters and plot lines are developed.
I could have done with out the Star Wars stuff, but at least Jericho called him out for being corny.

^I think this and only this.....but really

Love everything that's happening with AJ right now. Love it. Just love it. And here we were all so incredibly angry (myself included) that they originally broke up AJ and Bryan. This is one of the cases where they were able to do something greater than what we all fantasy booked.

Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk at Money in the Bank? Awesome. Perhaps this is why Kane was seemingly removed from the AJ love story.....so that it can end with her picking between Punk and Bryan. Also, that removes Bryan as a possibility in the World Heavyweight Championship MITB. If it's the same stipulation -- and the same number of competitors -- I'm guessing Christian, Ziggler, Swagger, and hopefully Mysterio. But with our luck, probably Khali.

WWE writers have to be the laziest, untalented hacks in Hollywood. Three distraction finishes (two which led to non finishes) in a single show??? I guess all you need to do to be a WWE writer is know the following script...

-Match starts
-Another wrestsler's music plays and that wrestler comes out on the ramp
-Wrestlers in the ring get distracted and stop wrestling to stare at the wrestler on the stage
-Insert some type of garbage finish
-Writer gets paid and starts the script for Smackdown

It's so fucking infuriating. Kane loses because he's distracted by AJ skipping around. Del Rio and Ziggler don't even finish their match because Sheamus comes out (add in that Vickie just decides to nullify a match that she made AS THE MATCH IS GOING ON). And then Cena is too busy to staring at Big Show to finish his match, gets caught in the Walls of Jericho, but God forbid Cena tap out, so Show causes a shit DQ finish to end Raw.

Not a single quality match on tonight's show. Then throw in Cena's Star Wars "comedy", and the complete lack of logic that Vickie won't let people just enter themselves in the MITB match, and then puts Cena and Jericho right in the match anyway... this show gets a 0/10 from me. I'm dreading 3 hours more and more as each week passes.
I would Have stolen this last week but just like the AJ/Drug Addict/Love Triangle ridiculous story line I am clean.

So Kane, Jericho, Show, and Cena might give Nash and Triple H a run for their money as worst ladder match of all time...

One of these days me and Kody will host the same episode of RBR and have the longest argument of all time during the review of RAW.

And it will be the least listened to episode of RBR in history, but I'll feel better afterward.

This seems like a Raw I need to catch on the rebound, looks fun and I'm unable to see how Jericho being back can be a bad thing so I'll be heading to that soon.

I know the whole idea is that we need Perfect 10's out there or girls with body-parts that are fake to be attractive for wrestling but that right there is such a sight for sore eyes. Cute, athletic body that looks natural and it looks great. The fact that they're giving her a push without demanding her to change her body really gives me hope for the future of the diva's division, especially when talented women wrestlers like KC Cassidy and Jessie McKay who have stated aspirations of going to the WWE at some point are available and do/should not need a boob job to get a job.

I completely agree with Will on his Steroid's point, but I bring it to even the other side. I wont blame a girl who gets em, but I think the entire business is better off when the performers are people I'm sure are talented and give me great matches rather than how they look like. Give me the AJ's and the Gail Kims of the world.

So I went to WWE's website, and in more proof that they listen to RBR, they have the MITB ladder match listed as the "WWE Championship MITB Ladder Match" as opposed to the "Raw Ladder Match".
