Extreme Rules made up Mania in my book. Jericho/Punk, Bryan/Sheamus, and Lesnar/Cena were all amazing matches. And Im glad Cena is taking time off. The Marine 3?

Solid show. Weird choice having Cena go over, but I presume he's going to be out filming The Marine 3 or something for the next few months. Brock impressed me, I don't really like the hybrid MMA/wrestling style much though. That isn't how submissions work and it's just odd. D-Bryan and Sheamus stole the show, it's just a shame it couldn't have happened at Wrestlemania.

This was a rock solid PPV. A lot of solid matches. Kane-Orton, Bryan-Sheamus, Punk-Jericho and Cena-Lesnar were all top notch.

I feel like this is said pretty much every year, but this is the PPV that WrestleMania should have been. Both World title matches were absolutely amazing, the undercard definitely delivered, and the main event was one of the most interesting matches I've seen.

It definitely covered for Brock's possible ring rust and really played into the whole MMA thing. Plus, Brock is the perfect man to revitalize Cena's underdog image.

This Pay-Per-View was damn near perfect. I was entertained by every single match.

The booking to the main event was genius, from top to bottom.

My only complaint was Brock was WAY too dangerous. If he's going to be around all year, that's needs to be fixed...fast.

I really enjoyed this show. Sheamus/DB, Punk/Jericho, and Brock/Cena were all awesome. Odd to have Cena win in this situation.. well he always wins so maybe not?

Good show(Extreme Rules usually is)

Clay/Ziggler and Ryback squash(though I like Ryback) seemed kinda pointless.

Also did not expect Layla return instead of Kharma. Won't hear me complaining though. Layla <3

Punk/Jericho was really good. MOTY candidate.

Brock/Cena was fun. Brock is super rusty but was still badass.

rest of the matches were good/ok. Bryan/Sheamus was especially good.

Bryan/Sheamus would have stolen the show if Punk/Jericho wasn't so awesome. Right now, I can't decide which match was better.

But def show of the year. I only caught 5 matches (from Bryan's promo backstage forward) and while Ryback vs. Vanilla's was blah the rest of the matches were really fun and enjoyable. I def enjoyed this ppv. It's incredible how Chicago will get the Show of the Year 2 years in a row with another MOTY contender (maybe even 2 here). I just wished a diva with character retained her belt rather than just happy-go-lucky-always-smiling face diva with no character (no matter how much I may like Layla, she's going to be forgettable as a face). The Bella's gave us so much more, and I hope they get the titles back real soon.

And Cena winning may not be the best ending, but far better than just Brock destroying him and Cena losing without giving any offense. That, even to the most staunch Cena hates has to admit that that's just deflating and a bad ending to a ppv.

As long as Layla continues to wrestle the way she did tonight, I'm really going to enjoy her return. It looks like she's been training a lot since she's been gone.

I think it's somewhat smart but at the same time incredibly stupid that Brock lost.

Smart in the sense that Brock just got everything he needed from Johnny Ace, the private jet, the Raw show title changed, and more money. Then he loses the main event.

Stupid in the sense that this is Brock's first match back, and now he's just like every other Cena opponent. Who cares if Lesnar beats everyone else, he still lost to John Cena?

I think we just saw one of the main contenders for PPV of the year.

Both title matches and Cena/Brock were amazing, and while i didn't think the right guy won the main event i was still thoroughly entertained by the match. Brock hit Cena with some STIFF elbows and credit to Cena for taking such a barrage early on and being able to follow through with a great performance.

I can't pretend that i'm not dissapointed with the direction they booked that match, especially after the "goodbye" promo afterwards which makes me think they could happily have had Lesnar win and have a reason to write Cena off. But to paraphrase a point that Barry made on twitter earlier "it entertained the fuck out of me".

Mar makes a supremely valid point also.

He beat brock with absolute luck and Brock basically hurting himself when he had the match won. It doesn't hurt Lesnar when he didn't lose giving his all if they capitalize on that (using it to give someone else a rub later).

Of course they wont do that, but at the very least this doesn't just devalue the rest of the roster where Punk's the credible guy they're keeping the title on.

I agree there, but I'm so tired of this bubbly-smiling-face-divas schtick. Also, the Bella girls while still limited still did a good job in the match. I wish they'd stay and get more time in a real wrestling role, they're decent and have no problems.

I disagree completely. Cena had to use a chain and an AA onto steel steps to beat him, in addition to Lesnar hurting his leg. That isn't like every other Cena opponent.

Excellent show. Could have gone without the Ryback squash match, but it certainly didn't hinder the show at all.

Layla coming back was a nice surprise, and winning the championship was even more surprising.

As for the main event, I'm not sure how I feel. If this is Cena's last match in a while, then I guess you give him the rub...but, Skatz said it best:

"YOU MEAN TO TELL ME YOU CAN'T JUST HAVE BROCK DESTROY HIM, HE LEAVES, AND MAKES A VALIANT RETURN??? HOW FUCKING HARD IS THAT???"

The match itself was great and Cena totally gained some respect from me in this match. I still hate him though.

Holy fuck, what a main event. One of those nights where it feels great to be a fan, as I got some great wrestling that legitimately had me on the edge of my seat and completely pulled in. Thrilling stuff. As I said to Dave on twitter, I'm a wrestling fan first and foremost and I adored that main event. I could complain about what this means for future buy-rates now that Brock has lost but I 100% sincerely do not care. As a story I loved it. Even as a fan I can't say I didn't like Cena winning. And hell, he lost but holy fuck, Brock was the star of this show. I'd disagree he came off like every other Cena opponent. I don't recall ever seeing anything like that match ever in a WWE main event.

The rest of the show was very strong obviously. Sheamus and Bryan... well, they backed up what everyone said. They got a chance and they fucking delivered! Jericho and Punk had a great match despite vintage Punk sloppiness. Kane and Orton had a good match with the aid of shortcuts. The undercard was predictably just there. WWE's midcard is so nothing right now. The Rhodes vs. Big Show finish was such awful shit, and continued the perplexingly bad booking of Cody Rhodes of late.

So yeah, ten thumbs up for this show.

Oh and:

I started watching after teh first fall of the Sheamus/Bryan match so I can only comment on what I saw, but this was an excellent PPV.

- I was bummed Bryan lost, but it was a great match and hopefully it sets Bryan up for another title match or at least keeps him in the Main Event picture with someone else who can deliver stellar matches.

- Ryback match: 1 > 2

- Punk/Jericho was a top to bottom great match and was rolling on all cylinders (those cylinders being ringwork, spots, story telling, and the crowd)

- I'm happy that Layla is back and am always amazed that shes have one of (if not) the best move sets for a Diva and can pull them off without looking a mess. Also Dat Neck Breaker, JESUS!

- Cena/Brock was multiple times better than I expected it to be and did something they haven't done for Cena in Years: Made him a believable Underdog. You can say "Well he was the underdog in the Rock match" and No, they had a good back and forth, Cena got cocky, it bit him in the ass. Cena never had the upper hand for longer than 5 seconds. When Brock had that Kimura locked in I legit thought he might tap. I've never thought that he would tap ever before this, but I expected it here.

I don't know if Cena got good at selling or Brock just said "He's not going to pull this Justin Bieber Never Say Never Japanese Strong Style shit with me, I'll just stiff him and make him scream Fo Realz." (I assume he talks like that).

PPV of the Year so far, but I hope it keeps getting better.

It was supposed to start filming this summer when Orton had the role, so one can assume since Cena is taking his place after the backlash that's what he'll be doing this summer.

If he's actually injured that's one thing, but if he's actually taking time off to film a movie a month after his feud with Rocky it's just really funny and only adds to his shit.

Cena winning didnt bother me one bit. And its cool that Cena is getting time off. 10 years and the only time off he ever got was during his injuries. And I'm excited to see what the WWE will do next. Lesnar/Orton? Lesnar/Punk?

Uhhh...that article only talks about Orton getting the role. I know he's lost it, but once again I haven't read anywhere that Cena is now getting it.

I'm pretty sure Cena is just banged up and needs time off, like every other top guy has needed and gotten.

And Barry, I agree with pretty much everything you said except for one thing....I enjoyed Rhodes and Show's match. I thought it was well booked, had some great action (dat disaster kick), and the ending spot was brilliant. Sure, "gotta keep Show strong" came into play post-match but what I'm hoping is it leads to a slow heel turn for Big Show. We're starting to see an angrier side to him again. I liked it a lot.
