Maxine quits

Postby Matt G » Thu Jun 28, 2012 6:57 pm

Maxine, who's been seen mostly on WWE NXT and a few Raw appearances, including Monday's Battle Royal, has quit the company and is gone, according to WWE sources.

The word making the rounds is that she had been frustrated with a number of things, including not being offered a guaranteed deal and not having the chance to prove herself on TV beyond the WWE NXT level.

Maxine, real name Karlee Perez, signed a WWE developmental deal in 2009. After wrestling for Florida Championship Wrestling, she was brought up to NXT for the all Divas third season. She returned to NXT as part of the retribution season four and became involved in a triangle with Derek Bateman and Johnny Curtis.

Good for her. Nobody deserves to be stuck in purgatory that long.

I think this is bummer. There isn't a properly used diva, that I can think of. And the one heavily used diva isn't being used for her wrestling. Shame.

Wait, didn't she Gail Kim herself in the battle royal on RAW or was I seeing things?

Good for her for telling them to stick it. I feel bad that shes not "living the dream," but it is what it is. Maybe if a few others quit over lack of opportunities then they'll start utilizing them more.

From the few matches I saw her in she wasn't bad at all by current Diva standards. She had a gimmick on NTX as a crazy controlling man eater and in the ring had the gimmick of a submission specialist which she wasn't terrible at. If there actually was an active Diva's division she would have been one of the top workers as she wasn't limited by the generic FCW move set (See: Alicia Fox, Kaitlyn, Kelly Kelly, Rosa, and Aksana)

That's a shame since i really enjoyed her work, and looking at AJ and Kaitlyn it's not impossible that she might have got onto Raw/Smackdown at some point. She was appearing sporadically already on both shows.

Oh well.

Good for her, leaving on her own terms. The simple fact that she has a vagina doomed her to mediocrity and so she made the right call here.

It really sucks that TNA is TNA. They're a company that hasn't trained their audience to consider women's matches a bathroom break and for a time had a division that was putting out the best nationally televised wrestling (beyond just women's) in the industry. If TNA didn't have the Hogan problem and perhaps hired Lagana earlier they could have made something big out of that and been the perfect place for misused WWE diva's to escape to or Indy wrestlers could strive to go to. It could have even become a true draw, something that may have grabbed iMPACT consistent ratings above 1.1's.

But it's no longer those days, and TNA no longer has the option of doing that unless a lot of things change. It's really unfortunate.

She was actually one of the most talented diva's on the current roster. I'm happy for her, she was being misused and I'd like for all the other guys and divas to quit if they're being misused. I'm sick of seeing a talented wrestler be misused like Alex Riley (ya, I'm an Alex Riley mark) but like Matt said, good for her. There was no reason that she should've been relegated to NXT constantly and be eliminated in like 10 seconds in the battle royal on Monday. She needed to get out of the company instead of being the whore on NXT who was "fucking" William Regal, Johnny Curtis, and Derrick Bateman. Thank god she quit. I have spoke more about this then it will be brought up about on the show, so I am done.

One less diva on the WWE roster that I would like to slip my dick into. How unfortunate.

And this statement is why women's wrestling in WWE is where it is. When you had women with talent (Katie Lea/Winter, for example. Speaking of which, where the Hell is Winter?????), they were constantly put on the backburner for no talents who had a certain look (Alicia Fox, Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres). Some of them got cut loose due to not having anything for them, but other get depushed (Beth Phoenix) or given awful gimmicks (Natalya's farting gimmick), while the one who can't do simple things like running the goddamn ropes (Kelly Kelly) get all the love.

Women's wrestling has been, and can be a draw. Trish Stratus and Lita proved that. The TNA Knockouts (well, the Taylor Wilde, Gail Kim, Kong years anyway) also proved this. WWE is misusing some very talented wrestlers, and it's sad.
You gon' get got!

Maybe, just maybe ONE DAY women's wrestling will come back. Layla and AJ were solid on Smackdown til it was interrupted. And of course the announcers still don't give a shit either. Good for her for getting away. Don't waste your talent.

It won't come back in the WWE ever again because of the announcers and the lack of interest these shows have for diva's have trained the audience that they are nothing important. The only time a diva can matter is when she's a side-character or story focus of the men's division. I love all the stuff AJ has done as her character, but I want to see her do more things like her match against Naomi, which isn't even the best diva's match. We could literally have the Lacey vs. SDR match from Shimmer 16 on PPV and the crowd will boo it for being "too long of a bathroom break". Diva's matches are only meant to be short matches, that get cheers when a big spot happens but are not allowed to be real contests.

Womens Wrestling isn't beyond repair by any means, but with the current administration in charge there's little chance it will improve. What they need is the same level of investment that saw Lita/Trish main event a Raw that time.

Ok seriously I don't know who maxine is. I think I've seen her but I'm not sure about who she is and what she's done. I guess that's the problem with having nxt on wwe.com. honestly wwe.com sucks to watch a video on. Maybe its just me but I can watch a video more then 5 minutes online.

WWE:
Outside of signing Kharma, what has HHH done to give you hope that women's wrestling will change? The current administration has trained their fans to not care at all about the division, and to only care about 1 or 2 diva's at a time. Today, they're conditioned to only care about divas who do not wrestle. The next administration is a Vince McMahon enabler and a guy who for every good idea he has also feels the need to continue to force himself into every hot thing that the company has that's not the Rock.

Trish and Lita got over to the level they did because while both were somewhat wrestling at the time, they were not known for being wrestlers early in their career. They were valet's and bikini models, and only after establishing their characters as valet's and bikini models did they then get to wrestle (and once they were over, other women got over as actual wrestlers like Molly Holly/Victoria/Jazz/Mickey James/Gail Kim early on). There's no chance for any of that for the women today. Heel diva's work temporarily, but the lack of interest in the division always ruins the potential any of these diva's have. The only face to get attention after those two was Kelly Kelly, and she immediately became "smiling face diva who just wrestled and smiled" and gradually lost all her appeal from being "the one diva we know the name of".

AJ has the potential to be a draw wrestler, but not until she has some one else in the division with a character that people know about. Layla's not it, she's just face Eve 2.0. Beth Pheonix has lost all her heat and Kharma just isn't going to happen. The only over diva with a character who could be a foil to AJ is Vickie, who will never wrestle. There's nothing they can do here, and the group of great workers who will probably be coming up in the near future to future will never be allowed to have a role like Trish in T&A or Lita in Team Xtreme. They will just be brought in as wrestlers with a character that will be forgotten by the writers in 2 weeks, not given enough time to work and get over their personalities, and they'll just be wasted. It is only a matter of time until AJ is nothing again, because all the overness she has will not be used to help the women's division (effectively).

TNA:
TNA needs real women's wrestlers, and none of the workers out there will really give TNA the time of day after seeing how Daffney was handled, how Kong/Brooks/Melissa were handled and what most of the women have to suffer through financially. They all work anyway, why work for a company that on a whim will deny you the ability to work for other companies and only pay you per appearances (in a company that acknowledges "cycles")? Especially now if Brooke Hogan is there to not only have a more prominent role than the other women, but is making considerably more than the other workers (and also the things pointing to them putting her onto the roster and allowing her to go over the workers).

Oh well, btw, Dave, have you seen Sweet Saraya wrestle live?
