WWE:
Outside of signing Kharma, what has HHH done to give you hope that women's wrestling will change? The current administration has trained their fans to not care at all about the division, and to only care about 1 or 2 diva's at a time. Today, they're conditioned to only care about divas who do not wrestle. The next administration is a Vince McMahon enabler and a guy who for every good idea he has also feels the need to continue to force himself into every hot thing that the company has that's not the Rock.
Trish and Lita got over to the level they did because while both were somewhat wrestling at the time, they were not known for being wrestlers early in their career. They were valet's and bikini models, and only after establishing their characters as valet's and bikini models did they then get to wrestle (and once they were over, other women got over as actual wrestlers like Molly Holly/Victoria/Jazz/Mickey James/Gail Kim early on). There's no chance for any of that for the women today. Heel diva's work temporarily, but the lack of interest in the division always ruins the potential any of these diva's have. The only face to get attention after those two was Kelly Kelly, and she immediately became "smiling face diva who just wrestled and smiled" and gradually lost all her appeal from being "the one diva we know the name of".
AJ has the potential to be a draw wrestler, but not until she has some one else in the division with a character that people know about. Layla's not it, she's just face Eve 2.0. Beth Pheonix has lost all her heat and Kharma just isn't going to happen. The only over diva with a character who could be a foil to AJ is Vickie, who will never wrestle. There's nothing they can do here, and the group of great workers who will probably be coming up in the near future to future will never be allowed to have a role like Trish in T&A or Lita in Team Xtreme. They will just be brought in as wrestlers with a character that will be forgotten by the writers in 2 weeks, not given enough time to work and get over their personalities, and they'll just be wasted. It is only a matter of time until AJ is nothing again, because all the overness she has will not be used to help the women's division (effectively).
TNA:
TNA needs real women's wrestlers, and none of the workers out there will really give TNA the time of day after seeing how Daffney was handled, how Kong/Brooks/Melissa were handled and what most of the women have to suffer through financially. They all work anyway, why work for a company that on a whim will deny you the ability to work for other companies and only pay you per appearances (in a company that acknowledges "cycles")? Especially now if Brooke Hogan is there to not only have a more prominent role than the other women, but is making considerably more than the other workers (and also the things pointing to them putting her onto the roster and allowing her to go over the workers).
Oh well, btw, Dave, have you seen Sweet Saraya wrestle live?
